Как бы можно было построить исследование на тему, говорили российские дворяне по-парижски или нет? Сначала, пожалуй, нужно было бы взять письма из российского архива начала 19 века и сравнить стиль с письмами сопоставимых по классу парижан. Еще можно было бы попробовать посмотреть статистику французских гувернеров в России и частоту поездок дворянских детей во Францию, включая образование. И сравнить, например, с владением немецким и английским.
С немецким было бы, наверное, гораздо лучше, потому что многие дворяне происходили из немцев и чаще ездили в Германию.

Вообще, в современной Европе очень трудно представить себе людей, особенно школьников и студентов, не говорящих свободно на двух-трех языках.

This morning I had a coffee with a friend who lost 100 pounds (50kg) in three months on a Keto diet. It's a whole new way of life for him because eating is something you do, not something you think about. When ordering a coffee, he had to warn the barista about no sugar, no milk, no nothing. What coffee then? Some kind of filtered stuff that he wouldn't touch in his pre-diet days. And the question remains, whether the new low weight is going to stick in his after-diet life.

Luckily, we spent just 5 minutes on the diet and the rest of the conversation focused on how to get from a plane of immanence to a plane of reference.
