Electing a bankrupt real estate salesman to be the president of the United States was a bad idea because his core skill set was limited to shameless cheating in order to get a larger loan and a bigger sale.

People who still don't get it are hopeless. Fortunately, there are fewer of them than two years ago.

I am not so sure about that, unfortunately. Also, any changes in their numbers are irrelevant if potential voters who do get it are not going to vote in electorally important places.

I understand that in the trenches the picture looks different. Nevertheless, the polls show an overall shift away from the BS-er-in chief.

Among Republicans, the current BS-er-IC beats all previous presidents hands down. 72% think he is honest and trustworthy, 77% think he is well-informed.

The party is marching into darkness, especially considering their attitude toward "the enemy of the people".

One week from now might very well be the most important elections of our lifetime.

True, Republicans are shifting toward the BS-er, but the general population is moving away from him. Also, the Republic party is getting smaller too and that would explain the shift.

It is remarkable that the chief strategists of the two previous presidential campaigns (McCain-2008 and Romney-2012) have left the party of Trump and speak about it with moral clarity.

But the list of public figures like that is very short. Unless the party suffers a humiliating defeat, the march into the abyss will continue.
