A couple of days ago, in search of personal enlightenment, I talked to a white middle-aged contractor who told me he voted for Trump because "there's too much socialism in the US now." I asked him to give me an example of socialism in the US. He said that during Obama's second term his illegal "undocumented" Mexican workers started asking for raises, as if they had rights in this country. This is fucking socialism, he said, when even the illegals argue their rights.

My comment that freely negotiated contracts between individuals represent the cornerstone of capitalism fell on deaf ears.
