Somehow, telling people that Trump is going to be our president for the next eight, instead of 4 years, has a calming effect on them. Of course, the initial reaction is like, Oh shit! but the discussion suddenly shifts to why's and how's, which makes people think a bit more rationally. They stop bitching and moaning and start brainstorming resistance strategies, job strategies, communication strategies, media strategies, investment strategies and whatnot. Creativity is a great psychological helper, especially, when you switch from short- to long-term thinking: the action horizon clears up and various options appear where none existed before.

Besides, we are the most defiant nation in the world.
