In the aftermath of the 2016 elections, understanding formation of real-life social capital is going to grow in importance. What we measure in "likes" today is only useful for advertisement, while for getting things done in real-life projects (at various scales: from startups to college reunion parties to elections) we need to know how to build special-purpose social machines on the fly.
