If we think about people's activities (or even lives) as arrows, the notion of leadership would be represented by a diagram where arrows commute. In other words, leadership is not an aspect of an individual (object). Rather, it's an aspect of the category (objects and arrows). Maybe that's why we are having so much trouble defining leadership.
