Over the last couple of mornings, I've been watching squirrels in the backyard. I'd say it was almost impossible not to watch them all the time because their movements were rather unusual. They had some kind of jerkiness in them that I'd never seen in, for example, cats. To summarize: squirrels appeared to be digital (discrete) while cats were analog (smooth). Is it because cats are predators and have to avoid detection for long periods of time? On the other hand, when a cat pounces on its prey it becomes digital too. But at this point detection no longer matters and the cat can afford to reveal itself.

Like a cat, the future also seems to avoid detection most of the time. Then it pounces and we have a yet another "disruption" or other kind of shock. A really interesting question would be how to "digitize" the future, so that it becomes more detectable.
