Jul. 3rd, 2015 11:55 pmTwo weeks ago a friend of mine got into a car accident: a police SUV running the red light rear-ended his car on a six-lane expressway. His car got totaled but, luckily, he didn't get hurt. What pissed him the most was that the police woman that was behind the wheel tried to accuse him of running the red light and causing the accident. The first thing she told him when she got out of her SUV was, "Why did you run the red light?" She didn't care whether he got hurt at all. He would be in real trouble if there were no witnesses who saw what happened and confirmed that she was at fault. Also, — another piece of luck — the expressway was in CHP jurisdiction and the cops that showed up immediately after the accident had no interest in saving the police woman's ass.
My friend is quite angry that a person in a position of authority has no integrity to acknowledge her own fault. She was ready to ruin his driving record and do some serious damage to his finances just to avoid responsibility for the accident. Unfortunately, he cannot sue her for that because she didn't give any official testimony for the CHP report and the witnesses got to him too late to hear her verbal accusations. I wonder if there's a way to kick her out of the police force.
