I've been advising a startup founder for two and a half years now, helping him from almost the inception of the idea till the beginning of a large customer rollout. So far, it's been a great ride. Today we had our regular "conceptualization" session and I noticed that his hair was getting somewhat grayish. He's still young but the life of an entrepreneur, even a successful one, is taking a toll on him.

- meaningful and well-formed data qualify as information, irrespectively of whether they convey a truth, a falsehood, or have no alethic value at all.

- false information and mis-information are not kinds of information—any more than decoy ducks and rubber ducks are kinds of ducks.

upd: it would be interesting to consider Popper's concept of falsifiability from a Philosophy of Information (PI) perspective. I wonder whether Floridini does it later in the book. It feels like the existence of a case where a theory doesn't carry any information (i.e. is false) shouldn't determine whether the theory has value or not.

upd2: propaganda breeds ignorance because its targets (citizens) don't acquire information. Those who create propaganda act from malice, while those who act based on propaganda, do so from ignorance.
