Obviously, Israeli war planners had to know that before the operation; therefore, they had to count on Trump to approve the use of the bunker-busting bombs and B2 bombers. For some reason, he did not provide the approval.

I think they planned to do some social engineering and at some point convince Trump to ok it. Trump craves "winning", but is afraid of US casualties. If Israel shows that Iranian air defenses are completely wiped out, give Trump all the credit for winning the war, he might approve the bombing.

Could be a bunch of wishful thinking on their part.

That’s kinda my point. War planners don’t plan like that. Either they knew something, or this comes from netanyahu, not the planners. Something is happening now, apparently - we shall see.
