The culture shock in Babylon
Nov. 18th, 2014 04:43 pmAs I continue reading about Sumerian culture and writings, I find the following passage describing a jewish experience during their forced exile in Babylon (7-6 centuries BC):
If we imagine a Babylonian and a Judaean immigrant in friendly conversation in that market, in other words, the latter would have no answers at all to perfectly natural questions such as: What is your god called? What does he look like? Where does he live? Who is his wife? How many children does he have?
