In all, an estimated 2,600 people have been wounded or killed in school shootings since 1970, including children, teachers and other school employees, according to the database. Last week’s massacre in Uvalde added 19 elementary-school students and two teachers to the list.

More than 240,000 U.S. students experienced a school shooting between 1999 and 2019.
