The administration is now directly interfering with international trade because established American companies cannot compete with their Chinese rivals in the open market. 5G emerges as a test case for the new anti-competitive tactics. In the process, the US government has no problem hurting American suppliers because their employees and investors don't vote for the fucking moron.

The Commerce Department’s decision Wednesday to put Huawei and its affiliates on its “entity list”—on grounds that Huawei had acted contrary to U.S. national security or foreign policy interest—will force Huawei suppliers to apply for licenses to keep selling to the Chinese firm, complicating the Shenzhen company’s ability to procure critical supplies.

Edison Lee, a telecom analyst at investment bank Jefferies, said in a report he doesn’t expect the U.S. to grant any such licenses.

BTW, the tariffs imposed on Canada as a "negotiating tactic" are still in place, despite the end of negotiations.
