Trump didn't intervene. Belatedly, the FFA made the decision, but he went ahead and announced it as if he made it.

The rumor has it that FAA needed some prodding from above. Even if this rumor is false, Trump did nothing wrong here, and blame is squarely on Boeing. Note that there is still no talk about installing second AOA sensor. Probably too expensive. Software “fix” is all we’re promised.
