This "feature" comes on top of all the other crap that Yandex engineers piled up on their blog search tool recently. Basically, you can't use the service for deep meaningful searches in the vast LiveJournal archive. But it used to work! Somehow, people at Yandex did some significant work to cripple their own service. I wonder how and why a reasonably run company turns into shit. The death of the technical founder and the change at the top seem to be the culprits.
I know that Russian engineers often joke about Indian programmers: how unsophisticated the Indians are compared to advanced Russian minds. Well, at least Indian programmers are not sophisticated enough to deliberately shoot themselves in the foot.
