CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — SpaceX successfully launched its first rideshare mission into orbit today (June 13), lofting a new batch of 58 Starlink internet satellites along with three small Earth-observation satellites before nailing a Falcon 9 rocket landing at sea.


Thanks to the sheer number of satellites in orbit, SpaceX is operating the largest satellite fleet ever.

China’s capital city on Saturday reported four new local coronavirus cases related to its largest food wholesale market, intensifying concerns about a second wave of infections after Beijing recently loosened virus-control measures.

Three of the four people worked at the Beijing Xinfadi Market, while one made several visits to the market to buy food, Pang Xinghuo, deputy director of the Beijing Center for Disease Prevention and Control, said at a briefing.

Florida’s Department of Health on Saturday morning reported a new daily record high of 2,581 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 — surpassing the previous high by 679. The previous high was hit on Friday. And the high before that was hit on Thursday.

And as bars, gyms, vacation rentals and movie theaters reopened at partial capacity last week in all but three South Florida counties, the number and rate of new COVID-19 cases were rising statewide
