When we talk about values it's important to realize that some of them didn't get a chance to be adopted by a certain culture. For example, Russia didn't have a chance to adopt respect for private property (see the paper on privatization) as an essential component of a citizen's rights. As a result, the culture doesn't have a good experience in resolving property-related conflict through courts and arbitration. Unlike in Jewish, Muslim, and Confucian cultures, property law is not a part of Russian orthodox community practices [Acemoglu; Zhuravskaya references]. Where other major world cultures have century-old precedents, Russians have either a void, or a Soviet-era negative attitude, reinforced by the unfairness of the 1990s privatization.

КГБ – особая порода животных. Слово «нет» они не понимают, договориться с ними нельзя, на компромисс сами не идут, а компромисс противника воспринимают как слабость. И если ты не послал КГБ, значит, что ты сам себе сделал большое горе. Это значит, что они будут давить дальше, пока не завербуют. У КГБ есть только две ипостаси: или ты их враг, или ты их агент. И между этими двумя больше ничего.
Поэтому Путину надо посмотреть в глаза и сказать: «Путин, иди вот ты вот туда». И все. Я готов к Петру Алексеевичу приехать в Киев и научить посылать.

Мои личные санкции:

1. Никакого сотрудничества с официальной Россией.
2. Работать над тем, чтобы отток капитала из России стал максимальным.
3. Увеличить отток талантливой российской молодежи на Запад.
4. Поддерживать инновации, направленные на удешевление производства энергии и сокращение ее потребления.
5. Помочь знакомым иностранцам понять смысл и выучить выражение "Путин - хуйло."
