binary systems/approaches/logic seem to hold evolutionary advantage in high-noise environments. they enable relatively easy solutions to detection problmes, which often impede efficient control and communication, especially during the synthesis phase of system development.

examples: friend vs foe; morse's code ( dash - dot); good vs evil; computer code ( one - zero); materialism vs idealism; body vs soul; yin vs yang; us vs them; etc.
