One of my friends, who was born in Ukraine and still has friends and relatives there, explained to me why he and his wife support Zelenskiy for president. It boils down to four issues: corruption, esp. in the coal business; no economic progress since 2016; use of Russian language in culture and everyday life; Zelenskiy's personal smarts as seen on TV (Kvartal something)

He also said that Poroshenko didn't have support even in his native Vinnitza region.
