When I was a college kid Flatland made an enormous impression on me. I was particularly impressed by how the author fused math, literature, culture, philosophy and psychology into a tiny book. Life in a two-dimensional world, with all its beauty, absurdity and ugliness, felt real. In some ways, Orwell's 1984 was a sequel to Flatland.

Now, my country lives inside a real-time book about the Liar Paradox. I wish I could skip ahead and see the ending.
