Let's say,
- capitalism is a religion*;
- a miracle is required to convert a community to a religion.

1. China got converted to capitalism because of the economic miracle engineered by Deng Xiaoping in cooperation with the West.
2. By contrast, Yeltsin's attempts to convert Russia to capitalism failed.
3. Economic growth under Putin was perceived by the community as as a result of re-establishment of the old anti-capitalist religion.
4. In economically successful societies, the excesses of the capitalist religion are mitigated by legal (US, Northern Europe, Singapore), democratic (US, Northern Europe), social (Northern Europe, China) and religious (US) institutions.
5. In Russia, Putin is the only institution perceived as capable of protecting the people from the capitalist religion, e.g. his stance against the hated oligarchs of the 1990s.
6. The Putin's regime works to prevent emergence of alternative social mechanisms for community defense.
7. The proposed liberal economic reforms are implicitly directed against the community, e.g. reduction in government services, the pension reform, etc. They are unlikely to create an economic miracle in the next 5-10 years.

Conclusions: Russian society will remain anti–capitalist for at least the next 20–30 years.
