We tend to take it for granted, but it's a totally non-trivial idea that stuff should have names associated with it. It's an even better idea that non-existing stuff should also have names. Once you have the names, you can start doing some amazing things:
update: I've just finished reading (via meduza.io) a Kommersant article by Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the Executive Investigating Committee in Russia. He writes that an act of questioning the results of the "Crimea referendum" should be called extremist and criminally prosecuted as such. What a bastard! The siloviki junta in Russia has gone completely mad from the power it has over the society.
